School Of General Education

Introduction

The mission of the School of General Education is to provide a general education with highly flexible curriculums to help students meet their individual areas of interest and also help them fully develop their potential in their majors.

The General Education program directs students to courses in Korean composition, foreign languages, mathematics, arts, humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and natural sciences. Such courses offer comprehensive opportunities to the students to become technically competent, critical thinkers, and well-behaving leaders for society. In short, the aim of the General Education program is to provide a well rounded educational experience to groom global leaders with a well-developed Yeungnam type of personality.

History

March 2000 - Reflecting the new curriculum to the School of Basic Studies
November 2001 - School of Basic Studies received a superior rating from the Korean Council for University Education
March 2002 - Establishment of the School of Basic Studies
March 2003 - The new curriculums for the School of Basic Studies are implemented
March 2004 - The School of Basic Studies opens an office of academic affairs
March 2006 - Reinstallation of the School of Basic Studies (Independent Department)
February 2007 - School of Basic Studies renamed to School of General Education and absorbed in newly established College of Basic Studies.
March 2007 - A new curriculum is reflected on the School of General Education
March 2009 - Transfer to the College of Basic Studies
October 2009 - Reorganization of General Education Curriculum for the 2010 school year
October 2013 - Reorganization of General Education Curriculum for the 2014 school year
