Yeungnam University (President CHOI Oe-chool) ranked first nationwide in the 2025 New Prosecutor Selection Exam, producing 10 successful candidates. This marks an even greater achievement than last year, when seven YU graduates were appointed as prosecutors.

Since its establishment, the YU Law School (Dean SEO Bo-geon) has consistently produced prosecutors, with a total of 41 to date. The 2025 selection results include 10 students from the 15th cohort — KIM Kang-san, KIM Sung-min, KIM Yong-jae, KIM Ha-eun, MIN Hye-joo, JANG Seok-hwan, JEON Chan-ung, JOO Sang-wook, JIN Soo-young, and HAM Seung-yeon — all scheduled to graduate in February 2026. In addition, alumna SEO Ha-yana (12th cohort) passed the experienced prosecutor selection exam.

At a congratulatory meeting held on September 24 in the President’s Reception Room, JEON Chan-ung (28) said, “I entered YU Law School with the dream of becoming a prosecutor, and thanks to the university and professors’ meticulous guidance, I was able to achieve that dream. The professors’ close attention to even the smallest details is one of YU’s greatest strengths. I will continue to uphold principles and integrity in my career and strive to enhance the reputation of YU Law School.”

YU Law School has also demonstrated consistently outstanding performance in the national Bar Examination. It ranked first nationwide in the 9th Bar Exam and second in both the 8th and 10th Bar Exams (based on the number of enrolled students per class). In 2023, the school was recognized for its excellence in operation and education quality, receiving official accreditation in the 3rd evaluation cycle of law schools.

President CHOI Oe-chool remarked, “Achieving first place nationwide in the prosecutor selection exam is an exceptional accomplishment. This remarkable result reflects the students’ relentless efforts and the professors’ dedicated guidance. YU Law School will continue to foster an optimal educational and practical environment to nurture future leaders of the legal profession. I hope today’s successful candidates will uphold justice and fairness so that no one suffers injustice, and contribute to building a more dignified Korea and a better global community, thereby further elevating YU’s reputation.”
