<Signboard hanging ceremony for “Geonwoojeong” of YU Faculty of Architecture>


YU Faculty of Architecture (Dean KANG Ju-won) constructed Geonwoojeong, a traditional type pavilion and had its signboard hanging ceremony on September 29th to commemorate 70th anniversary of the faculty.


Geonwoojeong was constructed to symbolize 70 years’ tradition of Faculty of Architecture and to provide students with a space for education and rest and is placed between YU Gyeongsan Campus Architectural Building and auditorium of College of Engineering.For construction of Geonwoojeong, ten graduates of Class 80 participated in collection of the construction fund.


It took two months to construct Geonwoojeong and Great Wood Craftsman KIM Beom-sik, Gyeongbuk Intangible Cultural Asset 37, supervised whole courses with wood processing and completed the best pavilion.


Professor KWON Jong-wook of YU Faculty of Architecture, who managed preparations for and progress of the construction, said, “The education and research capability of YU Faculty of Architecture is internationally recognized. Construction of the pavilion was planned to provide students with the opportunities to experience traditional architecture every day. I hope to give them an opportunity to feel a new shape of the campus through Geonwoojeong having a unique traditional architectural shape in YU Campus fulfilled with modern buildings.”
