본 교과목에서는 사회복지법에 대한 접근은 사회복지학과 법학적 지식을 요구한다. 사회복지법의 체계와 현실과의 관계 등을 헌법과 관련하여 총론적으로 이해하고, 사회보장기본법, 사회복지사업법을 포함하여 개별적인 사회복지법의 고찰을 통해 현행법의 범주와 체계를 파악한다. 또한 판례에 대한 검토와 분석을 통해 사회복지실천의 현장에서 사회복지법을 적용하고 이용할 수 있는 능력을 제고시킨다. 이를 바탕으로 사회복지제도에 대한 법적 이해 능력을 배양하고, 현존하는 사회복지법제에 대한 체계적 이해와 함께 실정법 해석 및 적용능력을 향상시킨다.
