 The unique year-end ceremony and year opening ceremony of Yeungnam University is becoming a topic. That was because the university members carried them out as a scene of love and communication for pledging the growth of university with one heart and one goal with the students unlike the year-end ceremonies and year opening ceremonies of the past that were merely window-dressing the event.

 First, on December 31st which is the last day of last year, Yeungnam University had wrapped up the official operations of one year with environment cleanup volunteer service at Bukbu-dong and Nammaeji area of Gyeongsan, around the campus.

 As the environment cleanup volunteer service of this day is the one filled with the heart of teaching staffs looking around and taking care of the village where Yeungnam University students stay by themselves while firming up the appreciation toward receiving the presidential citation for volunteer service merit at the \'volunteer worker\'s day ceremony\' on December 3rd and volunteer service intentions toward the neighborhood community, about 150 appointed professors school affairs committee members and teaching staffs including President Lee, Provost Sur, Gil-Soo and Executive Vice-president for External Cooperation, Choi, Oe-Chool, etc as well as about 50 students have participated.
 
 
 

 Opening New Year Wishing Health and Farewell with \'Sharing Fortune Rice Cake of Love\'

 On the third, the first official duty of New Year was also started with \'Sharing Fortune Rice Cake of Love\' instead of simple year opening ceremony.

 Around 10 AM of this day, president Lee, Hyo-Soo, etc visited the reading room of library in person. The students were surprised and very delighted by the sudden visit of president Lee and teaching staffs for encouraging the students by handing out the \'Fortune Rice Cake\' wishing for health and farewell of one year to the students who are studying from the outset of new year while the president Lee and teaching staffs were even more delighted by the response of students.
 
 

 Also in the year opening ceremony held at the Dormitory assembly hall from 11 AM, the president and vice president of General Student Council as well as the teaching staffs participated for the first time to exchange new year\'s greetings. Then at the rice cake soup party held at the Dormitory cafeteria, the teaching staffs and General Student Council executives gave words of blessing and exchanged love by serving rice cake soup in person by wearing aprons.

 President Lee emphasized on the love and harmony of university members in the year opening ceremony greetings by saying that \"At our university now, the new creation of overflowing while the love toward university and between its members started sprouting and spreading. As we were wrapping up the last year, the professors-employees-student representatives had an year-end ceremony by cleaning up the village where our students are living in. This was putting our love toward the students into action by looking around and cleaning the place where our students are living in. Handing out the new year\'s fortune rice cake at the library in this morning and having the year opening ceremony at the Dormitory where our students are living in would also be the expression of warm heart. I think \'this is the very start of great change\'\".

 In addition, president Lee did not forget to say the words of blessing by saying \"I wish all our Chunma family members would by all means be able to decorate an abundant year with wisdom, love, mutual respect and mutual learning throughout this year. Thank you everyone\" after saying \"If we truly love this university, we would be able to display the creativity on \'what we must improve\' in it. The continuous innovation would be made possible as such creative ideas are put into action while we would be able to lead a new university paradigm of 21st century and create new university culture. Just like the snowfield becomes a road if we look back while walking on the snowing field for the first time, I\'m sure we would be able to create the new road of university culture in the 21st century\".
